Reducing Child Pornography through Porn Reviews

Because the internet is accessible to anyone, porn reviews and porn pay sites must ensure that visitors are within the legal viewing age limit before they grant access to pornographic content.

Porn pay sites must provide proof of compliance with the following U.S. regulations:

  • Title 18 U.S.C. 2257: This code is a culmination of the governing policies and criminal penalties for people who produce and promote sexually explicit media. 18 U.S.C 2257 lists how to maintain, locate, and provide compliance records if the government calls for them. Porn pay sites are required to follow 18 U.S.C. 2257 to ensure no child under the legal adult age is involved in producing the listed pornography of the site.
  • Terms of Use for Entry: Required conditions should be spelled out to the people who are about to enter the site, besides being at legal consenting age, having a desire to view the porn, and keeping the images not to be seen by a child is also in the term of use. Pornography that is posted should be understood as a product of the webmaster, so the person is at fault for any inappropriate content. The terms must be accepted by the user before he can enter the website.

Apart from following U.S. regulations, websites can register with ICRA, ASACP, or RTA.

  • ICRA: An international organization whose mission is to build a safer internet. The Internet Content Rating Association provides a way for developers to rate the content of their website to see whether or not it is suitable for children. As a pornography site, it must declare whether it contains any nudity or sexual content, any use of strong language, or any violence along many other criteria of the ICRA. If a developer claims any of the ICRA criteria are present on his site, a person can choose to leave the site immediately, and a parent can deny his or her child from accessing the site.
  • ASACP: The Association of Sites Advocating Child Protection strives to eliminate child pornography by having adult and porn pay sites comply with certain stipulations. These terms include declaring how the site is made for adults, labeling the site sexually explicit, declaring all models and actors are legal adults, and ensuring all linking sites comply with ASACP terms, too. ASACP also keeps its members abreast of child pornography laws and updates to stay in compliance with laws.
  • RTA: By posting a “Restricted To Adults” label on a website, the site provider is abiding by ASACP standards and is declaring the content is unsuitable for a child. Pornography sites are deemed inappropriate for minors with an RTA label.

Along with taking these measures, parents can purchase and implement filters on any computers that a child or minor can grant access to. Following the 18 USC 2257, terms of use and any internet protection organization’s rules can help ensure that no children view porn pay sites. Porn reviews have gained trust in the industry of adult sites by rating only sites that comply with U.S. regulations and show evidence of restricting child access.
